I don’t expect gay people to prove to me, a straight person, that there’s actually homophobia. I don’t expect poor people to prove to me, a Harvard grad, that hunger and poverty are widespread problems. And if someone asked me, as an Asian person, to “prove” to them that racism exists, I would laugh all the way back to Chinatown. Marginalized groups are not responsible for explaining their marginalization to you. If you are actually concerned, you would take the initiative to do some research yourself instead of showing up at some oppressed group’s door step demanding a list of citations for things (racism, sexism, etc.) that are proven time and time again in the real world.

I’m not above answering questions, but I feel this way SPECIFICALLY about people who are asking questions with the core intent of disproving my experiences with bigotry.

i’m just not in a great mood. i’m feeling reallly bummed right now and i have to do so much traveling this weekend. everything is on the north side im spending so much of my fucking check on transit and that sucks. and dammit why can’t i just teleport.

175 pounds of multicolored candy as a “portrait” of the artist’s partner Ross Laycock, who died of AIDS that same year.
Ross’s ideal healthy body weight was 175 pounds.
Attendees of the exhibit were instructed to take one piece of candy each. The dwindling pile paralleled Ross’s body languishing from the disease.
Gonzalez-Torres also instructed that the pile be continually replenished so that Ross could be symbolically reborn again and again.

we give academy awards and oscars and shit to people who were born with symmetrical faces and who are good at reciting lines but we ignore people who create things like photoshop or other complex coding programs,people who create things like the internet,people who actually train their dumb monkey brains to a superhuman level and change the world
